In today's world, we walk in shoes that have rubber or leather soles, we sleep in beds not in contact with the ground, and when we do walk barefoot in our houses we walk on carpet or wood, etc. We spend very little time in contact with the Earth.
Earthing means walking barefoot outside and/or sitting, working or sleeping inside while connected to a conductive device that delivers the natural healing energy of the Earth into your body. The premise of "Earthing" or “Grounding” is that, if one is not grounded, one's body has a shortage of free electrons with which to quench the chronic inflammatory response.
Earthing, also known as grounding, allows people to directly connect their bodies with the Earth and use its natural electrical charge to stabilize them. This practice involves walking barefoot outdoors or using indoor grounding systems while sleeping or sitting.
Our ancestors used to love the soil, they rested on the ground for the sensation of being close to mother earth. It was good for the skin to touch the Earth, and the ancient people enjoyed removing their moccasins and walk with their bare feet on Earth.
The soil was peaceful, strengthening, cleansing, and healing. Humans grew, like all animals, walking on the ground without insulating obstacles between the Earth and our feet.
It is common knowledge that the soles of our feet are radically sensitive due to a high concentration of nerve endings. Since nerve, tissue is electrically conductive, it is easy to believe that the bottoms of our feet are highly conductive surfaces.
The cut-off from this natural resource right under our feet may probably be a major factor behind the alarming rise of chronic diseases in recent decades, and inflammatory-related conditions, in particular.

If you can't regularly walk on the grass or beach, there are various other ways to ground yourself. There are special bed sheets, bed pads, electrode patches, and sandals, pads to sit on while at work or home, and foot pads to use when seated. These are grounded directly into the earth outside a window by a wire and metal rod or by connecting into the ground part of a grounded outlet.
Not only do we expose ourselves to unhealthy water , air, food and an extremely positively charged lifestyle, even worse we wear insulating plastic shoes, which completely separate us from the healing power of the great Earth. The super destructive effect of electronics surrounding us – our cell phones, TVs, microwaves, radios and millions of wireless equipment – bombard us with millions of positively charge particles and destabilizing particles.
We have completely insulated ourselves from the earth’s unlimited supply of electrons that heal and rejuvenate us ever since we began wearing rubber soled shoes in the 1960s.
The Earth has a vast reservoir of electrons, and connecting to the earth will supply the needed free electrons to quench the inflammatory problems. Using thermographic images, researchers have demonstrated that, in a short period of time, people who are grounded (by sleeping on a grounded pad or by having grounded electrode patches placed on the areas of inflammation), experience a decrease in inflammation.
Dr. Sinatra performed an experiment on heart rate variability (HRV). In general, those people who have a low variability of heart rate are more prone to cardiovascular problems. Grounding was found to improve HRV after only 40 minutes. More research is needed to see what effect sleeping on a grounded bed may have! Many patient stories shared in this book described a decrease in high blood pressure, lower blood viscosity, decreased menopausal symptoms, fewer arthritic symptoms, better sleep, better athletic performance, and much more.
Walk, stand, and sit barefoot on the ground for a half hour or so. If you have PMS or arthritic pain or a backache or indigestion or jet lag or are just feeling fatigued, go outside (weather permitting, of course) with your bare feet placed directly on the Earth.
Earthing at once balances your body to the same energy level, or potential, as the Earth. This results in synchronizing your internal biological clocks, hormonal cycles, and physiological rhythms.
At the end of that time you will feel better. And as you feel better, a lightbulb will go off in your head. You will realize that although you live on the surface of the Earth your lifestyle has separated you from the limitless healing energy that, unknown to you, the surface beneath your feet holds. It's there, and always there, and yours for the taking.
