Infrared Therapy

It is a type of light that humans can’t see, but can feel as heat. Our bodies absorb, as well as emit infrared radiant energy. Infrared therapy is a new and innovative light-based method to treat pain and inflammation in various parts of the body. Infrared light therapy has many known potential benefits.  One of the characteristics of infrared heat therapy is its ability to penetrate even the deep layers of the skin, providing better pain relief. In fact, this non-invasive, natural, and painless process can offer an enormous assortment of health benefits.

Near infrared and Far infrared describes where the wavelengths fall on the light spectrum. Far infrared rays are the longest rays within the infrared spectrum of light. The sun emits 37% of its total energy in the near infrared range, and 3% in the far infrared range.  Near infrared is between 1 and 2 microns. Far infrared is from 4-14 microns.  Near infrared light can give direct relief to your skin and body pain. Near infrared light therapy can be used over the brain, inside the nasal cavity, or over injuries or wounds. The light is used to heal, improve tissue repair in wounds, bones and tendons, reduce pain and inflammation and restore and stimulate multiple physiological processes which repair damage caused by injury or disease. The healing occurs wherever the beam is applied. The light stimulates the cell’s natural healing and pain relief processes.

What this heat basically does is stimulate your metabolism by increasing body heat slightly. This helps with getting the lymph moving, healing underlying infections, and even helps with weight loss.  Some sources compare far infrared to a non-surgical form of liposuction- it can stimulate the fat cells to open up and dump their contents. This is why we need to start slowly with introducing this awesome healing tool- toxins get stored in fat, so this flushing can create quite a massive detox reaction.

Far Infrared has been studied all over the world for decades now, and the benefits are incredible.  Basically, this form of heat is actually the beneficial form of heat we get from the sun!  So we get the benefits of the sun without risking the sun burn part.  Sunlight itself has so many well known benefits- better immune health, more balanced moods, and it even contributes to keeping weight more stable.

Far infrared light (FIR) therapy helps in detoxification as they can make you perspire heavily, so you remove more toxic chemicals in the body. In addition, these lights can mobilize harmful elements through the production of sweat that is fat based and in sync with your body's energy. They can easily be absorbed deep within our skin and muscle tissue improving cellular activity and blood-flow. Far Infrared Ray (FIR), is the 'warm' energy found in humans, animals and nature. The intensity of Far Infrared heat produced by the human body constantly fluctuates. When the intensity is high, we feel healthy and better equipped to deal with physical challenges. When the Far Infrared begins to decline, we are subject to becoming unwell and tend to age more quickly. We can be exposed to Far Infrared heat therapy for hours as it is safe.

Some natural healers use energy and heat radiating from their hands to heal, much the same as Reiki healers do. Current research conducted in Taiwan has measured significant far infrared energy emitted from the hands of Chi Gong masters. Yogis in India also employ palm healing and recommend it especially for relieving eye strain.

Researchers have found that FIR can be helpful for enhancing blood circulation, reducing pain, improving sleep, protecting against oxidative stress, strengthening the cardiovascular system, easing joint stiffness and inflammation, revitalizing skin cells, detoxifying the body, and alleviating symptoms of Chronic Fatigue. As infrared light is safe, natural, non-invasive, and painless,  it may be able to provide a broad range of health benefits.
